New Delhi:Another Delhi man died after falling into an open drain in Rohini, four days after theJanakpuri horrorwhen a 25-year-old man, identified as Kamal Dhyani, was killed after falling into a 15-foot-deep open pit on February 6. A rescue operation was launched as soon as reports surfaced that another man hadfallen into an open drainin the Begampur area of Rohini on Tuesday, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said, however, the victim was found dead after his body was recovered.

An official said that a call regarding the incident was received at around 7:45 PM, following which a rescue team was immediately rushed to the spot.

Reports said that a PCR call was received at around 2:36 PM about a missing person at police station Begumpur, suspected of falling into a sewer on vacant DDA land in Sector-32, Rohini. Police rushed to the spot, where caller Amir Hussain, resident of village Uchati, Darbhanga, Bihar stated that one of his friends had fallen into a manhole.

According to Hussain, his friend Budhan Das aka Suraj, 33 and resident of village Bhupati, Madhubani in Bihar and Birju Kumar Rai, 32, resident of Sadipur, Badnaha, Samastipur -- both labourers -- had consumed alcohol last night. At about 7:30 PM, Birju lost his control and fell into the manhole while they both were returning to their jhuggi nearby.

Suraj stated that he did not inform anyone at night as he was intoxicated and informed Amir Hussain as soon as he regained his senses , next day in the afternoon.

Subsequently, after the matter came to light, Delhi civic authorities including the DDA, Fire Brigade, and other agencies were informed and a Police team started rescue efforts. The victim was recovered from the manhole with the help of fire brigade. A further legal proceedings in the matter is underway.
