A TikTok influencer has come under fire after pretending to have diabetes in an attempt to get around a Miami restaurant's 'no outside drinks' policy. The video, now under scrutiny, shows him accusing the venue of discrimination despite admitting he lied.
Lewis, known online as Mister Lewis, entered Las' Lap in Miami Beach with a coffee cup in hand. Staff politely enforced the rule against outside drinks, but he pushed back hard.
Lewis responded to the staff member by saying, 'Maam, Im a diabetic. I have something here to help keep my blood pressure high.' He later confessed in the video, 'I dont have diabetes. It was cap.'
He then claimed that if he did have the condition, the restaurant's stance amounted to discrimination. This twist drew sharp criticism from viewers who spotted flaws in his story right away.
The video quickly went viral, but instead of sympathy, the stunt drew heavy criticism especially after viewers noticed a glaring mistake in how the influencer talked about diabetes. Lewis appeared to confuse blood pressure with blood sugar, exposing the ruse almost instantly.
Critics highlighted Lewis's mix-up between blood pressure and blood sugar. Diabetics monitor blood sugar levels, not pressure, to manage their condition with insulin or diet.
One reaction video noted, 'Starting off with the fact that you dont know the difference between blood pressure and blood sugar.' Coffee does little for blood sugar control, making his excuse ring hollow.
Lewis carried a regular coffee cup. No medical device or sugar-free drink appeared in sight to back his claim.
Some of Lewis's supporters jumped to his defence, vowing to leave negative reviews for Las' Lap. They saw the restaurant as unfair, ignoring the faked story.
The reaction video warned, 'his followers are threatening to negatively review this place because they didnt let a grown man with a hypothetical health condition and a superiority complex break their rules.' This pile-on risks harming the eatery unfairly.
