In this segment guest host Keaton Weiss and journalist Caleb Maupin discuss a recent Democracy Perception Index poll conducted by a NATO-linked think tank that found that the United States is viewed as the biggest threat to world peace in 65 of 84 countries, including by Americans themselves, while support for U.S. military bases is overwhelmingly rejected globally.
Maupin argues that this reflects the real-world consequences of U.S. interventions, such as the destruction of Libya, and contrasts America's 800+ overseas bases with Russia's four and China's one. He notes that despite U.S. voters opposing endless wars, the military-industrial complex and deep state continue to drive imperial policy, regardless of who is in office. He concludes that only a mass anti-imperialist movement, not elections alone, can fundamentally change U.S. foreign policy and align America with the growing multipolar world.
