The California-born athlete who betrayed her own country to compete for Communist China is back in the headlines – and it's exactly what you'd expect from someone who chose Xi Jinping over the Stars and Stripes.

Eileen Gu, who shocked Americans when she abandoned Team USA to ski for our greatest geopolitical rival, claimed gold in the halfpipe event at the Winter Olympics on Sunday. But instead of showing any humility, she immediately took to social media to crown herself the "most decorated freeskier of all time, male or female."

Really? The woman who sold out her birthright for Chinese sponsorship dollars now wants to lecture the world about her athletic supremacy?

This is the same Eileen Gu who grew up with every advantage America could provide – world-class training facilities, freedom to pursue her dreams, and the opportunity to compete at the highest levels. But when it came time to represent the country that made her success possible, she chose the communist regime that harvests organs, operates concentration camps, and considers America its primary enemy.

"I'm just so grateful for this moment," Gu reportedly said after her victory, apparently forgetting to mention gratitude to the country where she was actually born and raised.

What's particularly galling is how Gu continues to benefit from her American upbringing and connections while competing against the very country that gave her everything. She's essentially having her cake and eating it too – using American training and opportunities to defeat American athletes on the world stage.

While Gu celebrates her gold medal for China, American freeskiers who remained loyal to their country continue grinding it out with less funding and fewer opportunities. These patriots chose principle over profit, country over convenience.

The real question Americans should be asking: Why are we celebrating athletes who literally compete against us for hostile foreign powers? Gu made her choice – she chose China over America. Maybe it's time we stop giving her the attention she clearly craves and start focusing on the athletes who actually want to represent the red, white, and blue.
