The US Secret Service said to have shot dead a man after he reportedly tried to unlawfully enter the Mar-a-Lago estate, Donald Trump's residence in Florida. The man was in his 20s, the Secret Service added.

The authority said the man had tried to enter a secure perimeter at the Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach. The incident happened while the US President was miles away from Florida, as he currently is in Washington.

The man shot dead by the Secret Service was initially seen by the north gate of the estate, they said.

They claimed he was carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.

US Secret Service agents attended the incident alongside the deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO).
