Governor of New Jersey sends in the State Police to Clear the crowd in front of Delaney Hall with Tear Gas and Riot Shields and Mounted Police on Horseback. The State Police eventually retreat, and the protesters trash ICE vehicles outside of the facility.

In May and early June 2026, after a hunger and labor strike was declared among detainees at the Delaney Hall ICE Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey, several weeks of contentious Anti-ICE Protests were held outside of the facility.
The situation evolved nearly every day for about 2 weeks, as the protests grew and tactics among protesters and law enforcement changed.
