July 09, 2026 MANHATTAN, New York - Steamfitters Local 638 held a press conference near 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue to address the unsafe conditions at the Metro Loft / Gensler Building (former Pfizer building) collapse at 235 East 42nd Street. Press conference participants include: Brian Hunt, President, Steamfitters Local 638; Cliff Johnsen, Business Agent, Steamfitters Local 638; and, The 42nd Street Hero Sean Dow who is a Shop Steward from Steamfitters Local 638. Footage has press conference and post press conference interview with “hero” Sean, who identified the failing steel and evacuated construction crews to safety, along with saving the lives of thousands within 4 city blocks.
