Satellite imagery and flight data indicate a sharp increase in American military aircraft at a central Jordanian air base amid heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.

A significant concentration of U.S. military aircraft has appeared at a key air installation in Jordan, according to new satellite images and flight-tracking data cited in aNew York Times report.

Imagery captured Friday shows more than 60 American attack aircraft positioned at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in central Jordan — approximately triple the number typically stationed at the facility. Additional aircraft may be stored inside reinforced shelters, limiting full visibility from overhead images.

Flight records reviewed in the report show that at least 68 cargo aircraft have arrived at the base since Sunday. The volume of transport flights suggests the rapid movement of personnel, equipment and logistical supplies into the region.

The aircraft visible in the images include advanced platforms such as F-35 stealth fighters, along with drones and helicopters. The base has also seen the installation of additional air defense systems designed to strengthen protection against potential missile threats.

Jordanian officials, speaking anonymously on operational matters, told the publication that the American military presence is consistent with an existing defense agreement between Washington and Amman.

The buildup coincides with mounting tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities. President Donald Trump said Friday he is considering a limited military strike intended to increase pressure on Tehran to reach a nuclear agreement.

The expanded deployment in Jordan appears to be part of a broader adjustment of U.S. force posture in the region as diplomatic efforts continue.

At the same time, officials in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have publicly expressed support for diplomatic engagement and have stated in recent weeks that they do not want their territories used as launch points for attacks against Iran.
