Two sisters died the same day in Rajasthan's Jodhpur after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance. According to police, both woman, identified as Shobha (25) and Vimla (23) were set to be married on Saturday. Their family was preparing for the wedding festivities of their two daughters, when the incident occurred. The wedding celebrations at their home continued until late Friday night. Around midnight, both brides went to sleep.
"At about 4 am, their health suddenly deteriorated, prompting family members to take them to a private hospital. They were declared dead on arrival, and their bodies were brought back home, where funeral preparations began," ADCP (West) Roshan Meena stated.
When police received this information, they arrived at the scene and halted the funeral arrangements. The bodies were sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination and were later returned to the family, officials said. Preliminary investigations suggest that the sisters may have died after consuming a poisonous substance; however, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is completed.
So far, no suicide note has been recovered from the scene.
This comes weeks after three minor sisters died by suicide after falling from the ninth-floor apartment in Ghaziabad. The incident took place on February 4 around 2.15 am. The girls left behind a diary and a suicide note, in which they expressed their love for Korean games and shows. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said that the sisters died due to shock and haemorrhage, adding that antemortem injuries were found on their bodies, according to the post-mortem report.
Investigation into the matter revealed that the father of the girls has three wives, who are biological sisters. Amid the probe, the father's past life, including the mysterious death of his live-in partner, has also surfaced, adding another layer to the family's troubling history.
