Delhi has been put on high alert after intelligence reports accessed by Times Now indicated that Pakistan-based terror groupLashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)is planning ablast near Red Fortin the national capital, a temple in Chandni Chowk, and other major temples across the city. In the wake of this development, the authorities have tightened the security across Delhi, with paramilitary forces on roads, keeping a hawk eye on vehicles, and all-time surveillance in the city.

This comes three months after a blast near the same temple near the Red Fort, which claimed 15 lives. The authorities have now increased security and deployment of forces to prevent any such incident.

The security forces have also stepped up patrolling in key areas across the national capital, where historical and religious sites are located. Para-military forces have been deployed to maintain surveillance across Delhi, focusing on popular religious sites.

The vehicles entering the Delhi-NCR premises are being inspected, while parked vehicles are also being checked for security purposes, according to a TOI report. The authorities are also monitoring the CCTV feeds 24x7 to detect any unusual movement.

Moreover, the police officials are also holding and managing meetings with market welfare associations and resident welfare associations to stay in the loop with all the information.

The police are also thoroughly conducting background checks on domestic help, chowkidars, and tenants to make sure no untoward activity is conducted.

According to the inputs, the LeT is plotting an IED attack. The alleged plan is reportedly linked to attempts by the terror group to avenge the February 6 blast at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. Security was tightened across key religious and heritage sites in Delhi on Saturday following the intelligence inputs.

The security agencies have issued an alert regarding a possible explosion threat near the Red Fort in Delhi, a major tourist destination and high-security zone. There are inputs suggesting that a temple in the Chandni Chowk area could be targeted by terrorists.

"According to a recent input, Lashkar-e-Taiba is planning Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks across big cities, including at a temple in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi, to avenge the attack at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, on February 6, 2026," read the inputs accessed by Times Now.

While the intelligence inputs are being verified and assessed, security has been stepped up in and around sensitive religious places and crowded public areas.
