New Delhi:A shocking double murder has been reported from south-east Delhi’s Sarita Vihar area, where a 35-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were founddeadinside their house, police said. The bodies were discovered hidden inside the storage box of a bed. Police suspect murder and have identified a man living in the same building as the main suspect. He has been missing since the incident.
Police said they received a PCR call around 10.30 pm on Friday, informing them about two bodies found inside a house in Ali Vihar. A police team rushed to the spot and found the bodies of the woman and the child concealed inside the bed storage. Both were taken to AIIMS hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
Initial medical examination did not reveal any visible injury marks. However, the post-mortem conducted on Saturday showed that both the mother and daughter died due to strangulation and suffocation. Police said the final post-mortem report is awaited.
According to police, the woman lived with her husband and three children. At the time of the incident, two children had gone to school. When the husband returned home around 9 pm, he found the door locked from inside and his two children sitting outside.
After getting no response despite repeated knocks, he broke open the door. Inside the house, he found household items scattered, though nothing appeared to be stolen. During the search, he found the bodies of his wife and youngest daughter inside the bed storage.
A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder. Crime branch and forensic science laboratory teams have examined the scene and collected evidence. Several police teams are carrying out raids to arrest the suspect, and further investigation is underway.
