San Antonio, TX - The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has released new video and 911 audio of a mental health disturbance call that ended with deputies shooting an armed man near the Alamo Ranch area. On June 23, deputies responded to the 8400 block of Knapp Rise for reports of a suspicious person who had also been seen trying to get into homes in the area. When deputies arrived, they found a man, later identified as 38-year-old Danh Thanh Dinh on a front porch holding two large knives described as "miniature samurai swords." Authorities say Dinh was hiding behind a pillar before stepping out and walking toward deputies with the knives. Deputies repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapons, but say he continued advancing. "Hey brother..let us talk to you man....don't do that put the knives down.....put the knives down.....hey look put the knives down....stay back don't you come here with those knives," one deputy could be heard saying in the video. One deputy then opened fire, striking Dinh. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries before being booked into the Bexar County Jail.
