Octagon newcomer Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani earned a big win in his debut atUFC Houston, defeating promotional veteran Phil Rowe via decision.
Lebosnoyani controlled much of the opening round, landing some solid strikes before taking Rowe down and lighting him up with a slew of nasty elbows against the fence.
Rowe managed to fight his way back up and connect with a nice knee up the middle, but it was the unrelenting pressure of Lebosnoyani that largely dominated the stanza.
Things were much more competitive in the second, with Rowe defending takedowns and landing some nasty calf kicks. However, Lebosnoyani managed to get Rowe to the mat with just under a minute to go.
Rowe popped up fairly quickly, but he failed to offer anything to swing the scorecards back in his favor.
Looking to put a stamp on things, Lebosnoyani landed yet another takedown in the third, nearly cinching in a mountedguillotine. Rowe defended the submission and got back to his feet before wobbling his opponent with a stiff combination in the closing seconds of the fight.
Unfortunately, it was too little too late for ‘The Fresh Prince.’
Official Result: Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani def.Phil Rowevia split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
