An ICE officer shot and killed a man in Houston’s East End after the suspect allegedly rammed an ICE vehicle and tried to run over the agent during a targeted enforcement operation. The incident happened around 6:50 a.m. near Canal Street and Wayside Drive.
According to ICE, the driver, identified as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, attempted to evade arrest, rammed a law enforcement vehicle, refused multiple verbal commands, and used his vehicle as a weapon in an attempt to run over an officer. The ICE officer fired in self-defense. The suspect was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The FBI is now leading the investigation.
