On February 11, Zaid Mayen-Esteban and Jonathan David Garcia-Larios allegedly burst into the victim’s home, armed with a “sharp-edged weapon,” and restrained him against his will.
The pair viciously assaulted him, sodomizing the victim and even ripping off his fingernails.
The victim was rushed to Eastern Carolina University Medical Center for treatment and, thankfully, survived the ordeal.
Two days later, U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement apprehended the suspects.
They now face charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, burglary, kidnapping, and sodomy.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) swiftly lodged arrest detainers against both individuals to secure them for deportation.
Both men entered the country illegally at unknown times, with Garcia-Larios having been previously removed in 2024 before committing a felony by re-entering unlawfully.
Shockingly, these heinous criminals had no prior criminal history in the U.S., underscoring the need for proactive enforcement against all illegal aliens.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin did not mince words in astatementabout the case.
“This is a real-life nightmare. Burglarizing, kidnapping, assaulting, sodomizing, and ripping off the fingernails of an innocent victim are extremely wicked and heinous,” said McLaughlin.
