Committee says Russian return to Paralympics a ‘democratic’ decision

The decision to allow Russia and Belarus to take part in the upcoming Paralympic Games was the result of a “democratic vote” by organisation members, an International Paralympic Committee official told AFP Friday.

“We appreciate that many countries are upset with the decision, but it was a very democratic process,” said committee representative Craig Spencer after the Czech Republic and Ukraine decided to boycott the event’s opening ceremony.
