About 10 members of the Indian Youth Congress were detained Friday after staging a brief protest inside an exhibition hall at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The protesters entered Hall No. 5 at Bharat Mandapam and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, triggering a brief commotion at the high-profile event. They wore or carried white T-shirts printed with images of Modi and United States President Donald Trump, along with slogans such as “India US Trade Deal,” “Epstein Files” and “PM is compromised.”

A senior police officer said the group was immediately removed and taken to Tilak Marg police station. “They were removed immediately and were taken to Tilak Marg police station. No one will be allowed to breach law and order situation,” the officer said.

The protest lasted a few minutes before security personnel escorted the group out. Some attendees were seen arguing with the protesters during the disruption.

While the group did not display party flags or symbols, one protester identified himself as being from the Indian Youth Congress.

A Delhi Police officer deployed at the venue said security inside the halls would be tightened following the incident.

The AI Impact Summit is being held from February 16 - 20 at Bharat Mandapam, drawing heads of state, global technology leaders, academicians, researchers and executives from major tech companies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit on Thursday.

As the protesters moved toward the lobby, a guest with an entry badge told them they were “compromised” and accused them of tarnishing India’s image, urging security to remove them.

The Bharatiya Janata Party sharply criticized the Congress over the protest, alleging it was aimed at damaging India’s global reputation.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal wrote on X, "This is CONGRESS ARROGANCE & FRUSTRATION on display! So, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, humiliating India to target the Government is your idea of opposition! While you want to CHOKE India's development by peddling lies about the recent trade deals, your foot soldiers are marching shirtless at the prestigious AI Summit, attempting to embarrass 140 crore Indians globally."

"This disruption strategy only exposes your and your party’s lack of vision for India," he added.
