Gurugram:An HR executive with a private company was allegedly assaulted by three men using cricket and baseball bats after a minor road accident near IMT Manesar inGurgaonon Tuesday evening. The victim, Nitesh Bhatia, a resident of Sector 1 in Manesar, said the incident took place around 6.30 pm shortly after he left his office at Munjal Kiriu in Sector 4. According to Bhatia, his Maruti Baleno was hit from behind by an Alto car without a number plate near Sarita Handa Exports.
He said he had slowed down at a speed breaker when the Alto crashed into his vehicle.
Bhatia pulled over a little ahead and got out to check the damage. He found that the rear bumper of his car was broken. The Alto driver initially apologised, which made him believe the matter would be resolved at the spot, according to a report by Times of India.
"Yes, the driver initially apologised. I thought we would settle the matter there. But all of a sudden, two other men got down with bats and started abusing me," Bhatia told TOI.
He said the situation quickly turned violent as the men began attacking him.
"They kept hitting me even after I fell on the road. I was shouting for help, it was terrifying. I had never seen them before," he said.
The assault stopped only after a few auto-rickshaw drivers and passersby intervened, following which the attackers fled from the spot.
Bhatia suffered a deep cut on his left ear that required four stitches, along with injuries to his arms and legs. He was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Sector 5, Manesar, and was discharged on Thursday afternoon, as per a report.
"I am still in shock. The mere thought of it disturbs me. The way it happened makes me feel it was much more than just an argument after an accident. As if everything was planned," he said.
Police said they received a medico-legal intimation from the hospital on Tuesday. An assistant sub-inspector and a constable visited the hospital, collected the medical report and recorded Bhatia’s statement.
