A minor argument over television volume turned into a shocking murder at a TIDCO housing colony in Mangalagiri, Guntur district, on Thursday evening, police said.

The victim, Sheikh Ahmed (27), an AC mechanic by profession, was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife following a heated dispute inside their home. The couple was living in the TIDCO housing complex in Mangalagiri.

According to police, the argument began when Ahmed asked his wife to lower the volume of the television. What started as a verbal disagreement quickly escalated.

In a fit of rage, the woman allegedly attacked Ahmed with a knife. Neighbours rushed him to the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police said the woman has been taken into custody. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events.

Earlier this month, a similar incident was reported from Telangana’s Rangareddy district, where a man allegedly stabbed his ex-wife to death at an apartment in Green City Colony. Police said the woman had divorced the accused and later married another person, which reportedly led to the murder.

The Vanasthalipuram police reached the spot after receiving information and began probing the case.

"We received information about the matter, reached the spot and are investigating the matter," a police official said.
