According to preliminary information, the incident took place when a Ford Endeavour allegedly brushed against a two-wheeler in RR Nagar. Eyewitnesses claimed Vinish was in the SUV and that the collision led to a brief argument between those in the vehicle and local residents gathered at the spot.

Amid the growing buzz online, Vinish's mother, Vijayalakshmi, issued a clarification on social media, saying that her son was not driving the SUV. She stated that the family's driver was behind the wheel when the accident occurred.
She said that Vinish had only stepped out of the vehicle to check on the well-being of the people riding the two-wheeler. She said attempts were being made on social media to portray him as the driver.
The clarification came as videos from the scene continued to be widely shared, fuelling debate and speculation online.
Vinish has previously found himself in the public eye due to controversies surrounding his father, actor Darshan.
