Playing in a gold medal Olympic hockey game comes with a unique amount of pressure. But Hilary Knight, whose goal tied the game with Canada late in the third period, said she was actuallymore nervous to proposethis week to her girlfriend, speedskater Brittany Bowe, than to play today.
This was, after all, Knight's fifth time in a gold medal game. While she was proposing, her "legs felt like Jell-O," she said.
"I was a little naive to just throw the video up on social and throw the video up before practice," Knight said. Teammate Megan Keller said Knight did not tell the rest of the team she was planning to propose.
âI donât know what I was thinking,â Knight said.
When teammates found out, they began playing Bruno Mars' song "Marry You."
American speedskater Jordan Stolz battled his way to silver in the 1,500 meters, claiming his third medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Amber Glenn didnât expect to be in medal contention after a disappointing short program this week at the Olympics. She entered today's figure skating single competition in 13th place with a lot of ground to make up against the best figure skaters in the world.
But after an exhilarating free skate performance resulted in a 147.52 score â the third-best on the night â she hung on to the top of the leaderboard till the final handful of skaters knocked her off the podium, finishing in fifth place.
Glenn said she was happy to provide fans, and herself, with bounce-back routine at theÂMilan Cortina Games.
