MILAN — Figure skater Lee Hae-in notched a top-10 finish in her Winter Games debut in Italy on Thursday, earning her best marks of the season in both the free skate and the total score in the process.

Lee finished eighth in the women's singles with 210.56 points after receiving 140.49 points in the free skate at Milano Ice Skating Arena in Milan. She had 70.07 points in Tuesday's short program.

Skating to "Carmen Suite No. 1" by Georges Bizet, Lee opened her free program with a clean double axel-triple toe loop combination. The 20-year-old landed all of her jumps cleanly and scored the maximum Level 4 on all three of her spins and her step sequence late in the program.

Lee earned 74.15 points in the technical element score (TES) for her execution of technical elements and 66.34 points in the program component score (PCS) for her artistry and choreography.

Shin Ji-a, the other South Korean on the ice, finished 11th with 206.68 points, just 1.77 points off her season best. She had a personal-best 141.02 points in the free skate after earning 65.66 points in the short program.

In the free skate, set to "Liebestraum No. 3 in A-Flat Minor" by Franz Liszt, Shin had a wobbly landing on a triple loop but executed other jumps cleanly. She didn't get the maximum level on her flying camel spin but received high marks for her step sequence and other choreography elements.

She received 75.05 points in the TES and 65.97 points in the PCS.

Alysa Liu of the United States won the gold with 226.79 points, just ahead of Kaori Sakamoto of Japan, who had 224.90 points. Another Japanese skater, Ami Nakai, got the bronze with 219.16 points.
