Former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his past dealings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was released the same evening after nearly 12 hours of questioning. Photos taken as he left Aylsham Police station in Norfolk show the 66-year-old sitting in the back of a car with a stunned and pale expression on his face. Police also searched properties on the royal estates at Windsor and Sandringham, where Andrew has been living since he was forced to leave Royal Lodge earlier this month.

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. He reached an out-of-court settlement with Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre in 2022 that included no admission of liability or apology.
King Charles III issued a short statement: “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.” He said the authorities have his “full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
US President Donald Trump reacted to the news by saying "I think it's a shame. I think it's very sad. I think it's so bad for the royal family. It’s very, very sad. To me, it’s a very sad thing."
Last year, in a remarkable move, King Charles stripped his brother of his royal titles and military affiliations. Andrew was also evicted from Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate. No charges have been filed yet. Police have released no further details about the arrest or the ongoing investigation. The case marks one of the most serious legal consequences faced by any high-profile associate of Jeffrey Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
