In a stunning display of congressional interference, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) announced they will force a vote next week on a war powers resolution designed to handcuff President Trump as his administration weighs necessary action against the terrorist Iranian regime.

The timing couldn't be worse for America's national security. Just as Trump has successfully ramped up military pressure by deploying the world's largest aircraft carrier to the region, these two lawmakers want to tie the Commander-in-Chief's hands when dealing with one of our nation's most dangerous enemies.

While Khanna's opposition is predictable – he's been a reliable anti-Trump voice throughout the President's political career – Massie's participation is particularly disappointing. The Kentucky Republican has often positioned himself as a constitutional conservative, yet here he is aligning with Democrats to potentially weaken America's position against Iran.

President Trump's strategy of peace through strength has Iran scrambling. The deployment of our massive aircraft carrier sends an unmistakable message to the mullahs in Tehran: America will not tolerate their continued aggression and support for terrorism across the Middle East.

But instead of supporting their own President's efforts to protect American interests, Khanna and Massie want Congress to micromanage foreign policy from Capitol Hill. This is exactly the kind of swamp behavior that Trump ran against – politicians more interested in scoring political points than securing America's future.

The Iranian regime has been laughing at American weakness for decades. They took hostages under Carter, got pallets of cash from Obama, and now they're watching some members of Congress try to sabotage the one President who's actually willing to stand up to them.

Patriots need to ask themselves: whose side are Khanna and Massie really on? When push comes to shove, will they stand with America or with the politicians who want to see Trump fail – even if it means emboldening our enemies?
