Sikandar Raza set multiple world records after being awarded the Player of the Match (POTM) award against Sri Lanka, as Zimbabwe caused another major upset to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo with four balls to spare on Thursday (February 19). The Raza-led team managed to top Group B after beating cricketing giants Australia earlier to knock them out of the competition.
Raza was the star of the show as the African nation chased down a massive total of 179 with four balls to spare. Walking out to bat at number four, the 39-year-old changed the momentum of the game with a quick-fire knock of 45 runs in just 26 balls at a strike-rate of 173.08 in a knock that included two boundaries and four sixes. Raza earlier bowled his full quota of four overs and finished wicketless while giving away just 36 runs.
Sikandar won the POTM award for the 20th time in his career and is the first player from a Full Member Nation to achieve this feat. He has won a race over Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav to achieve the feat. Virat Kohli is third on the list, but led it for the time he was an active player in the format. Among non-Test-playing nation players, only Malaysia's Virandeep Singh (22) is above Raza in the elite list.
