Access to a pig farm in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, is restricted after an outbreak of African swine fever was confirmed, Feb. 8. Yonhap
A new African swine fever (ASF) case was reported at a pig farm in Hwaseong on Thursday, prompting authorities to take emergency quarantine measures.
As part of efforts to prevent additional infections, city officials of Hwaseong plan to conduct an epidemiological investigation and restrict access to the site. All pigs at the affected farm will be culled.
They also plan to strengthen preventive measures at all 87 pig farms in the municipality.
The latest case comes less than two weeks after an ASF infection was reported at another pig farm in Hwaseong on Feb. 8.
