Pakistan Hockey captain Ammad Butt has been banned for two years by thePakistan Hockey Federation (PHF)after levying serious allegations against the board. The Pakistan team was embarrassed in Australia, both on and off the field. While they lost to Australia and Germany, the controversies outside the field grabbed more headlines. The team was left stranded at the Sydney airport for 12 hours before travelling to Hobart, where they were forced to roam on roads as the hotel bookings were cancelled.
Upon returning to Lahore,Ammad Shakeel Buttlashed out at the PHF and said that the team can't work with the current management. He claimed that the players were forced to clean the kitchen and wash dishes during the Australia tour.
The PHF took strict action against the captain and suspended him for two years due to disciplinary action.
In his parting statement, Bugti highlighted the growth of Pakistan hockey during his tenure.
“Our world ranking was 18th, and now it stands at 13th. This is our accomplishment,” he said, adding that he had “tried utmost for two years” to push the national team forward.
He also thanked the government for allocating 250 million to support hockey during his tenure. “The Prime Minister allocated 250 million rupees for hockey and released the funds. I am primarily grateful to the Prime Minister for allowing me to serve for two years,” he added.
