Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur created history after taking the field during the 2nd T20I between the Australian and Indian women's cricket teams at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Thursday (February 19) as the Women in Blue attempt to seal a historic series victory after winning the first game of the series in Sydney. Harmanpreet marked the landmark appearance in her career by winning the toss and choosing to bowl.

India won the opening game of the series by 21 runs (D/L method) in a rain-affected game, which has put Harmanpreet on course to lead the Women in Blue to a series victory on Australian soil for the second time after a 2-1 win in 2016 under Mithali Raj's leadership.

Harmanpreet scripted a huge world record as this is the 356th match across formats she has played for India. This makes her the most capped player in women's international cricket history. She surpassed the record of New Zealand cricket legend Suzie Bates. Among Indian players, the next on the elite list is ex-skipper Mithali.

As the Indian cricket superstar is concerned, she is playing her 189 T20Is for India, which is also the most for any player. Since her debut in 2009, she has made 3784 runs at an average of 29.33 with one century. She has played 161 ODIs for India after debuting during the 2009 World Cup and scored 4409 runs with seven centuries. She has also played six Test matches after her maiden appearance in 2014.
