A day after the father of the minor SUV driver broke his silence and apologised for the Dwarka SUV crash incident, the deceased's mother refused to accept the apology and said that she is not in the mood to forgive him, adding that it was ironic that he chose to come up and apologise 15 days after the accident. The mother of the deceased, Sahil Dhaneshra, also stressed that the father did not make any effort to reach out to her personally until now, according to a TOI report.
Sahil's mother, Inna Makan, who is a single parent, alleged that the minor boy's family has been focused on securing bail for their child and has not apologised so far.
"After 15 days, he suddenly remembers he is a parent. It's almost ironic. The police haven't even apprehended the father of the accused, who was only focused on securing bail for his son," she told TOI.
She further said that no one from their family spoke to her, adding, "Perhaps, they did not expect a single mother to gather evidence and pursue the case so relentlessly. They are financially strong; I am not."
The father of the minor SUV driver involved in the Dwarka SUV crash broke the silence on Wednesday, expressing remorse over the accident, even as victim Sahil Dhaneshra's mother is preparing to move court seeking stricter legal action against the accused.
Speaking to reporters, he said that he was "sorry" and "regretful" for the accident, adding that he was not in Delhi on the day of the crash. Police have registered an FIR against him. However, Inna Makan, the mother of the deceased, has demanded that the minor be tried as an adult and that the father face tougher charges. She has said that she plans to formally challenge the existing FIR and seek the addition of stricter sections.
The tragic incident happened at 11.57 am on February 3, when the minor, who was driving a Scorpio with his sister as a co-passenger, rammed Sahil's bike head-on, before hitting a cab. The crash happened near Lal Bahadur Shastri College.
Sahil was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival, while the taxi driver sustained injuries.
The incident was caught on camera as the minor's sister was filming for the purpose of an Instagram reel. The video showed the Scorpio speeding on a two-lane road which did not have a divider. The SUV narrowly missed a bus before crashing into Sahil's bike.
