Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, in his keynote address at theAI Impact Summit2026, on Thursday spoke about artificial intelligence and its implications, highlighting India's vision of ensuring the democratisation of this technology to all its citizens. While PM Modi delivered his address mainly in Hindi, he switched to English, saying, "We are entering an era where humans and intelligent systems co-create, co-work and co-evolve." Prime Minister Modi had earlier switched to English on multiple instances to deliver his message to the world.
During his visit to Bhutan last year, PM Modi had called the Delhi blast horrific, saying that those responsible for the deadly blast “will not be spared” and “will be brought to justice”. While the PM spoke in Hindi during an event in Bhutan, he made sure to switch to English while declaring his message against the attack. Warning Red Fort attack conspirators in English, the PM said, "The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice."
Earlier, after the Pahalgam terror attack in April last year, PM Modi had switched to English in Bihar's Madhubani, warning that India will “identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers.” This was followed by Operation Sindoor in May, where India attacked terror infrastructure inside Pakistan and killed at least 100 terrorists. The terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack were later gunned down by the security forces during Operation Mahadev in July this year.
PM Modi outlined a human-centric vision for the future of artificial intelligence, calling for the democratisation and inclusiveness of the rapidly emerging technology. The Prime Minister stressed that the approach to artificial intelligence should focus on “how to make AI human-centric rather than AI-centric” as he presented the ‘MANAV’ framework for AI governance, with focus on ethics, accountability, data sovereignty, accessibility and legal validity.
"Today at the New Delhi AI Impact Summit, I present the MANAV Vision for AI. MANAV means human, and MANAV Vision says M- moral and ethical systems: AI should be based on ethical guidance. A- accountable governance means transparent rules, robust oversight; N- national sovereignty means whose data, his right. A- accessible and inclusive means AI should be a multiplier, not a monopoly. V- valid and legitimate means AI should be lawful and verifiable. This MANAV vision of India will become an important link for the welfare of humanity in the AI-based world of the 21st century..." PM Modi said.
The AI Impact Summit is being held from February 16-20 at the Bharat Mandapam, in which more than 500 global AI leaders, 150 academicians and researchers, and 400 chief technology officers, vice-presidents, and philanthropists are taking part.
