A stampede like situation broke out during Shiv Jayanti celebrations at Pune's Shivneri Fort, the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Several devotees, including women and children, were injured and rushed to hospital for treatment. The incident occurred during Shiv Jayanti celebrations at midnight, which saw lakhs of devotees from across Maharashtra gathering at the fort in Junnar.

Heavy crowding near the Ambar Khana area led to chaos as authorities struggled to manage the surge. Devotees had begun arriving from midnight, causing severe congestion on approach roads.

Narrow entry points like Hatti Darwaja and Ganesh Darwaja became choke points as large numbers gathered simultaneously. Inadequate police deployment and poor regulation of entry and exit routes reportedly triggered panic, leading to the stampede like situation.
