Fiber artist Patti Schust returns to theSyosset Library Galleryas June’s Artist of the Month with “All Tied Up,” a new exhibit of quilts celebrating fathers and Father’s Day, featuring quilts that incorporate men’s ties into their motifs.

Schust, a classically trained artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Adelphi University, uses strong colors, patterns, and textures to tell stories.

“Quiltinghas been a way to express my feelings and creativity through a medium that is soft and welcoming in a world that is, at times, quite the opposite,” she said.

With more than20 years of quilting experience, Schust uses both traditional and nontraditional techniques, including appliqué, paper piecing and mixed media. Also on display are shells decorated by the artist, as well as paintings on driftwood.

Schust has exhibited at several other libraries on Long Island and at the Water Mill Museum,Nassau County Women’s Art Show, Long Island Conservatory and Malverne Historical Society.
