On Thursday, Feb. 12, the Patchogue-Medford High School hosted its second annual fashion show. “Each look presented on the runway is a fresh, modern take on a country’s traditional attire by student designers, with a focus on the Caribbean… Each outfit [has a] display [of] a handmade version of the country’s national flower,” said a spokesperson for the school district.
The all-day event held in the lower library was organized by the high school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) fashion design and merchandising program. This year’s theme is “Countries, Cultures, and Clothing... Fresh Takes on Traditional Attire.”
Replicating a professional industry fashion show, the work of jewelry students, African American Caribbean club, media arts students, CTE cosmetology, law enforcement, teaching as a profession, and clinical medical assisting programs were incorporated. A 40-page lookbook highlighting the students’ designs was also presented.
