The newest member to join the Ambani clan, Shweana Poy Raiturcar, wore a no-fabric lehenga for her wedding. The lehenga had no traditional fabric and was made entirely from metallic threads. Shweana, who married Vikram Salgaocar, the nephew of Mukesh Ambani and grandson of the late Dhirubhai Ambani, wore a lehenga by Monica Shah of JADE.
According to the designer, the lehenga was constructed entirely from metallic threads and took 1,500 hours to create. The brand’s Instagram page stated that it is “rooted in the 40-year legacy of Chanakya International”, adding, “Reviving the rare Mughal-era Kasab technique, the lehenga dissolves the idea of textile altogether, with rose gold, gold and antique gold threads calibrated to form a luminous jaal that moves like molten metal yet holds like armour. This was not couture as embellishment, it was jewellery translated into silhouette, and craft standing tall as structure.”
According to reports, the lehenga is priced at ₹1 crore.

The technique used in Kasab embroidery involves laying the metallic threads on the surface of the fabric and which are then secured with fine stitches. Most designs are influenced by regional aesthetics and artistic traditions. Over time, Kasab was integrated into other embroidery styles such as zardozi, gota patti and aari work.
It is a craft that was traditionally used in bridal wear and ceremonial outfits. Designers have started incorporating it into contemporary wear as well. For instance, Masoom
Minawala wore an Arpita Mehta creation in Cannes 2025, that showcased the Kasab embroidery.
