Eric Swalwell is the latest Democrat who, at least in his youth, turns out to be a member of this icky club.
Love and sex have been human concerns since there have been humans, so perhaps it’s not surprising to learn that well-known people have attempted to write about those subjects, especially when they were young. However, these writings have revealed that when prominent leftists tried their hand at fiction or poetry, they liked it rough. That’s creepy, and it’s no surprise to find that the distasteful Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Fang Fang) is among their number.

In 1972, Bernie Sanders, then 30, far beyond being a college student trying to impress his kinky English professor, wrote a short story for the Vermont Freeman titled “Man—and Woman.” The story opens with graphic descriptions of sexual fantasies (presumably his), including a woman fantasizing about being simultaneously raped by three men.
When the essay came to light in 2015,Bernie contendedthat he wrote it to challenge gender stereotypes and how porn magazines depicted women. He acknowledged that it was “bad fiction.” Bad, indeed—so bad that it remains reasonable to assume that it’s only in retrospect that this was classified as satire. The Democrat party hasdeep-sixed the whole thing, though, and Bernie is still a leftist darling.
By the way, it would be interesting to hear a cocktail party conversation between Bernie and his generational peer, E. Jean Carroll, who accused Trump of sexual assault. After all, during a 2019 interview on CNN, she stated that “most people think of rape as being sexy”—at which point Anderson Cooper hastily cut her off. These are not healthy people.
