A Republican county commissioner candidate’s home in the Charlotte, North Carolina area was struck by multiple rounds of gunfire Monday night.
According to early reports, 7–10 shots were fired toward the Huntersville residence of Mecklenburg County Commission candidate Aaron Marin while he was inside with his wife and their two young sons,WSOC-TVreported.
Marin’s young children had been playing out in the driveway just a short time before the gunfire erupted.
Bullets ripped through the property, striking the family’s vehicles, a tree, the mailbox, and even the kids’ basketball court. When police arrived, they discovered shell casings scattered all over the driveway.
Marin released a powerful statementon the horrifying attack, noting that the shots were “intentionally directed only at our house.”
“Last night, while I am running again for County Commissioner, our home was struck by multiple gunshots. The shots were intentionally directed only at our house.
At the time, I was inside with my wife and our two young sons. By God’s grace, we are all safe and unharmed — but as a husband and father, there are no words to describe the shock of hearing gunfire directed at your home.
We are deeply shaken and stunned that something like this could happen in Huntersville — the community where we are raising our family and have always believed to be safe and strong.
The Huntersville Police Department and Crime Scene responded immediately. We are grateful for their swift response and the professionalism of our local law enforcement.
Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, we will refrain from speculation and allow law enforcement to complete their work.
