State parks to host annual Jones Beach volleyball tournament

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will host the 48th Annual Jones Beach Volleyball Tournament on July 18 at Jones Beach State Park.

The tournament will feature four-player co-ed teams and will begin at 9 a.m. on the volleyball courts at Central Mall Field 4. Organizers said teams are guaranteed to play seven games, and the top two teams from each round-robin bracket will advance to quarterfinal matches.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams. The third- and fourth-place teams will receive merchandise prizes.

Registration is free and will remain open until the roster is full. Players must be at least 14 years old to participate. Organizers said players under age 18 must submit a parent or guardian waiver.
