Police are investigating reports that a passenger tried to breach the cockpit on a Delta Airlines flight. Officers in Houston were called to William P. Hobby Airport following reports someone attempted to breach the flight deck on board a scheduled service to Atlanta.
Houston Police Department confirmed the incident was reported at 5.38am local time on Wednesday but said only limited information is currently available. Flight records indicate Delta Flight 2557 had been due to depart for Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 6.21am, with a scheduled arrival time of 10.05am. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether a suspect was arrested or detained. The circumstances surrounding the alleged cockpit breach attempt remain unclear, and it is not yet known how close the individual came to the secured flight deck.
A spokesperson for Houston Airport System said the aircraft was forced to return to the airport shortly after departure.
