The Village of Patchogue Parks and Recreation Department will host their second Memorial Pickleball Tournament in honor of Marcia Chaskin.
Alan Chaskin, the organizer of the tournament and retired Patchogue middle school science teacher, grew up across the street from the Rider Avenue tennis courts, where the pickleball courts are now situated, and recalled playing there most of his childhood, from the 1950s up through the ‘70s.
The Patchogue Open Pickleball (POP) Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 13, at noon to 4 p.m. at the village pickleball courts located at Rider Avenue. The event will be limited to eight doubles (16 people), advanced, beginner and up. Bring your own paddles; it’s also open to co-ed and all ages, $20 per team. Register at 380 Bay Avenue. For more information call 631-475-4302.
Also, the Patchogue Parks and Recreation Department is hiring sailing instructors at $16 an hour. For those with expertise and enthusiasm, send your resume to [email protected].
