The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area is hosting its 23rd annual Beach Ball Fundraiser on Saturday, June 20, at Amanda Burden’s Bellport home.
BGCBA is a nonprofit organization that aims to support families by providing children and teens ages 5 to 19 with a safe environment after school and throughout the summer. The organization provides school-aged child care, teen programs, and a summer enrichment program that offers students hands-on learning experience.
Through its three main pillars, the club helps youth succeed in academics, character and leadership development, and healthy lifestyles. Some of the club’s programs and activities include daily homework help, dance, theatre arts, athletics, esports and weekly field trips.
The annual Beach Ball gala serves as the organization’s signature fundraising event and helps support the club’s various programs dedicated to helping students and families.
This year, the gala’s theme is “Dance for a Cause - Joy in Motion,” which highlights the profound impact the club has on local youth’s confidence and character. The evening will consist of a silent auction, dancing performances from members, a DJ, food, cocktails and more.
The executive director of the club, Kim Livingston, and event planner Agatha Emmett, have spent months preparing for and organizing this event, which brings together donors, sponsors, and community members in support of the club’s mission.
“It [the Beach Ball] really does help to support these programs,” said Livingston.
Additionally, for the first time at this event, a film will be shown that highlights a day in the life of a club member, specifically focusing on one of the dancers. Livingston said the film was created to show donors the impact of their contributions and the mission they are helping to support.
When asked why the organization chose to create a film, Livingston said it was “to tell everyone about the club in a really beautiful way.”
The tickets are $275 when purchased in advance, and $300 at the event. Additional information including ticket details and sponsorships are available on the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area Website.
