The Doomsday Clock was set at 85 seconds to midnight on January 27, 2026, from 89 seconds in October 2025. Humanity moved four seconds closer to catastrophe in just three months.
The shift was due to an increasing global tensions and risks, aggression of global nuclear powers and the disregard for international norms and law.
At 85 seconds, this global failure in leadership should urge us, the whole of humanity, to take concrete actions in pursuit of peace. At this juncture, independent voices matter more than ever.
