Four members of a burglary crew operating in New York and New Jersey were sentenced to jail for a string of attempted and successful break-ins in several Nassau County communities in 2023 and early 2024, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced on Tuesday, June 2.

Furquan Ahmad of Newark, N.J., pleaded guilty on March 4 to burglary and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison, Donnelly said.

Jawaun Whitted of Newark, N.J., pleaded guilty on March 14, 2025, to three counts of burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced on April 30 to 10 years in prison.

Fazon Farrington of Newark, N.J., pleaded guilty on March 14, 2025, to five counts of burglary and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced on July 23, 2025, to 10 years in prison.

Raquil Hayes of Newark, N.J., pleaded guilty on March 14, 2025, to two counts of attempted burglary and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced on May 23, 2025, to three and 1/2 years in prison.

Between Dec. 20, 2023, and Jan. 13, 2024, the four attempted to burglarize more than a dozen homes in the Nassau County communities of Lake Success, Woodmere, Valley Stream, Roslyn, Roslyn Heights, New Hyde Park, Lawrence, Syosset, Mineola, and Franklin Square, Donnelly said.

They attempted to gain entry to the homes using a crowbar to pry open doors and windows around the properties, and during several of the attempted break-ins, they were unable to gain access to the homes, tripped alarm systems, or were seen by victims in the home and fled, the DA said.

On Dec. 20, 2023, at 71 Percheron Lane in Roslyn Heights, Ahmad broke into the home’s garage in an attempt to gain access to their home. The alarm sounded and somebody in the home opened the door to her garage and saw the three inside, before they fled, the DA said.

On Dec. 23, 2023, at a Magnolia Drive home in Franklin Square, somebody woke up to find his front door unlocked and the window to his son’s room open with the screen missing and the wooden frame broken, Donnelly said. Ahmad, Whitted and Farrington stole a 2024 BMW, valued at $130,000, and a 2019 Mercedes-Benz, valued at $88,000, she said.

On Dec. 26, 2023, Farrington broke into a home on Saville Road in Mineola through a first-floor bathroom window, Donnelly said. He took a key fob and stole a BMW X7 from the front of the house, and stole a Louis Vuitton handbag, credit cards, and $180 cash, she said.
