Mumbai: An absconding terror suspect identified as Hufaiza has been arrested in Mumbai during a joint operation conducted by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Delhi Police Special Cell, sources said. Investigators said Hufaiza was in constant contact with Syed Mudassir Hussain, alias Munna Jhingada, a close aide of Pakistan-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Munna Jhingada is believed to have acted as the chief handler of the arrested terror operatives and allegedly coordinated activities from abroad.

Investigators believe the objective was to mislead and provoke residents over the issue and subsequently draw them into terror-related activities.

Hufaiza was allegedly assigned the responsibility of mobilising people in Mumbai and arranging funds for the network's operations.

Further investigation is underway.
