The dominant issue in the news lately is AI data centers. People are beginning to notice them more and more as they pop up all over America. As I have been researching, I have discovered they do more harm than good, and we the people, should be very concerned, as they will affect our way of life. The centers can not run without energy and water, nor can humans. These resources are limited in most communities. The question then becomes, who will get the limited resources? AI or Humans?

After construction, which will alter the agricultural makeup in rural areas, what jobs will be available? Very few people are needed to run equipment that is running with noise 24/7. Nature will be altered as trees are removed and animal lose their habitats. (Where are all the tree huggers saying NO?) Streams, rivers, and lakes risk pollution from chemicals, runoff, and industrial waste. Wetlands will become flood zones. Not a pretty picture, except if you are one of the major corporations pushing this devastation.

At our last BCC meeting, the Jackson County, FL, commissioners discussed the possibility of putting something that could ultimately lead to a data center in the southern part of Jackson County. The request was from the family who inherited 85 acres at the south end of the county. The query was for a battery farm. That sounded funny, so we sent out emails and posts to find out what was going on.
