The Congress on Tuesday appointed senior Karnataka leaderSiddaramaiahto its highest decision-making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC). The development comes at a crucial time as Congress leader DK Shivakumar is set to take oath as the next Karnataka Chief Minister on Wednesday, June 3.

The appointment, announced with immediate effect, is being termed as a significant organisational decision by the party leadership amid the key political transition inKarnataka. With induction into the party's apex decision-making forum, Siddaramaiah will play a crucial role in shaping the organisational and political strategy for the Congress party.

"Congress President has appointed Siddaramaiah as member of the Congress Working Committee, with immediate effect," an official statement read.

While the Congress leadership has not officially linked Siddaramaiah's appointment to the recent leadership change in Karnataka, but the move is being seen as an effort to assign the former Chief minister a broader organisational role at the national level.

Since Siddaramaiah remains one of the most influential leaders in Karnataka, the Congress, with its latest move, is aiming to bring the representation of the southern state into its highest decision making body.

AsShivakumarwill take the oath of Chief Minister's Office on Wednesday, the Congress party is trying to project a united face with Siddaramaiah's latest appointment. Siddaramaiah resigned from the post of Karnataka Chief Minister last week and paved way for his deputy to take over.
