New Delhi:Delhi woke up to light rain and slightly colder weather on Wednesday morning, with the Indian Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for thenational capital.The alert warns of light rainfall and possible thunderstorms over the next few hours, even as overall weather conditions remain largely calm.
According to the IMD, light rain is likely to continue in parts of Delhi during the morning hours. Very light to light rainfall is expected at isolated places, along with thunderstorms and lightning. Gusty winds may also accompany the rain, leading to brief spells of unsettled weather across the city.
For today, February 18, The maximum temperature is expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum remain close to 15 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are likely to hover around 55 percent.
From February 19 onwards, weather conditions in Delhi are expected to stabilise. Misty mornings are likely over the next several days, with no weather warnings issued. The maximum temperature is expected to gradually rise from 27 degrees to around 31 degrees by February 23, while minimum temperatures may stay between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, indicating a slow shift towards warmer conditions.
Despite the light rain, air quality across Delhi continues to remain a concern. Several areas recorded poor to very poor air quality levels on Tuesday. Chandni Chowk recorded an AQI of 285, IIT Delhi 162, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium 187, R K Puram 213, Patparganj 219, Rohini 314 and Wazirpur 338. Anand Vihar also remained in the very poor category, highlighting continued pollution stress in the city.
While Delhi remains under a yellow alert, the IMD has issued an orange nowcast for parts of north Rajasthan. These areas may witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 40 and 60 kilometres per hour over the next three hours. A yellow alert for light rainfall has also been issued for Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh during the same period.
