Passenger says she took Uber with two female friends from Central in early morning and driver left them fearing for their safety
Uber is investigating a complaint involving three female passengers who said they felt threatened during an early morning ride home in Hong Kong, after the driver allegedly told vulgar jokes, deviated from the original route and locked the vehicle doors when asked to drop them off.
The ride-hailing company said on Monday that it was aware of the allegations one of the passengers made online and had reached out to the driver as part of its investigation.
“We absolutely do not condone this type of reported behaviour on our platform,” a spokesman said.
Everyone who signed up for an Uber account was required to follow its community guidelines and violations would lead to loss of access to the platform, the company stressed.
In a social media post, the woman who made the complaint described a trip that left her and two friends feeling unsafe.
A screenshot shared by the user showed that the trip began in Central at 4.07am on Sunday, involving a Tesla Model Y.
