YouTube Down:Video-sharing platform YouTube suffered a widespread global outage leaving users across multiple countries unable to access videos and other services. More than 320,000 users in the United States alone reported problems on outage-tracking website Downdetector, with many encountering a “Something Went Wrong" error message while trying to use the app and website.
The disruption appeared to affect users worldwide, including in India, the United Kingdom and several other countries, according to user reports.
YouTube TV was also hit, with nearly 10,000 outage reports logged, suggesting the disruption extended beyond the main video platform to its live television service.
TeamYouTube acknowledged the outage and said it was investigating the issue.
“We’ve been looking into this issue, and while we don’t have a fix just yet, we’re keeping a close eye on it. We’ll provide any updates when they’re available," the company said.
The company has not disclosed the cause of the outage or provided a timeline for when full service will be restored.
Despite the disruption, many users took to social media to react with humour, sharing memes and jokes about the outage and their failed attempts to fix what initially appeared to be individual technical problems.
