The Nifty and the Sensex have ended the week on a sharply lower note, with the Sensex sliding over 1,000 points and closing at 74,775.74 and the Nifty sliding 359.40 points and closing at 23,547.75.

Both the Nifty and the Sensex witnessed rangebound trade for most of the trading day. However the sharp sell-off took place towards the end of the trading session. Independent Market Analyst, Ambareesh Baliga told Timesnownews.com "the MSCI Index rebalancing caused huge volatility resulting in stop losses for traders -resulting in further sell off" while some other experts feel that the persistent uncertainty of the US-Iran deal now denting investor sentiment.

Investors lost nearly Rs 6 lakh crore in a single trading session as the overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms dropped to Rs 465 lakh crore from nearly Rs 471 lakh crore in the previous trading session.
