Prince William and Prince Harry used to be very close. When Princess Diana was still alive, she ensured that her sons would grow up and rely on each other as adults. The brothers maintained a supportive and loving relationship whilst Prince Harry was still single. However, everything changed after he married his wife, Meghan Markle. Multiple sources revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton just did not get along well with Markle.

It is understandable why Prince Harry would take his wife's side. However, there were also expectations for the father of two to bridge the gap between his brother and his wife. Instead, it appears that he opted to go the Markle route.

In his book 'Spare',Prince Harry shocked the world with his story about an alleged physical altercationbetween him and Prince William. The latter visited his younger brother at home to express some concerns about Markle's difficult and abrasive behaviour. The remarks did not sit well with Prince Harry, so he and his brother got into a physical brawl.

According to Prince Harry, Prince William grabbed him by his collar and pushed him to the floor. The impact was so strong that he broke his dog's bowl after hitting it with his back. Despite his shocking claims, the Prince of Wales maintained his composure and never fired back at his brother. So, royal fans were left to believe that what Prince Harry said is true.

But now, royal editor Russell Myers claimed in his new book that Prince Harry's version of events is not necessarily accurate. After all, royal insiders told him that Prince William did not physically assault his younger brother. Yes, there was a heated exchange, and hurtful words were thrown at each other, but Kate Middleton's husband did not lay a finger on Prince Harry.

'It was a cheap shot [from Harry] to present such an argument. Tensions were running very high, and yes, there certainly were cross words exchanged that on reflection were regrettable, but the prince [William] is adamant there was no physical violence', thesource said.

The insider also claimed that Prince William talked to Prince Harry regarding concerns raised about Markle following a series of complaints from palace staff. So, Prince William was just doing his part as a concerned member of the royal family. 'It was not peddling a tabloid narrative to stick up for staff that were deeply unhappy to the point of walking away or having their mental health being affected', the source said.

Prince William and Prince Harry's falling out reportedly started even before the latter wed Markle. Harry had some concerns about Markle's safety and wanted to give her round-the-clock protection similar to what the Princess of Wales received. However, King Charles and Prince William did not agree with Prince Harry.

In Myers' book, it was revealed thatPrince Harry became furious with his father and brotherfor not giving Markle the same treatment that Middleton received. The decision also highlighted the unfortunate position of Prince Harry as the spare, unlike his brother, who happens to be the heir.
